A win for BAAR

In April BAAR was nominated for the biggest social media award in North America under the category “Excellence in Engagement, Non-Profit” by our website designer, Mark Collins. In the following week we asked all of our supporters on our Facebook Page,  to vote for us. The amount of support we received, from both near and far was amazing. After the week of voting was over we had well over 1,200 votes which gave us 53% of the total votes. We also had the highest amount of votes in all the categories, not just our own. We couldn’t have done this without our loyal supporters to whom we are forever thankful. On May 2nd all of us from BAAR attended the awards ceremony. Going in to it we had no idea if we had won or not as the final say was up to the judges, to be announced on the night. As our category was announced we were a bit nervous and excited, then so happy when they called out our name for winning first place. I was called up to receive a beautiful award, and gave a short speech on Biliary Atresia, the incidence of childhood liver diseases in general, the need to remove the stigma of liver disease, and the importance of organ donation.

Although no further promotion opportunities arose from the event, as we had originally hoped for, we are thankful for the win and more importantly, we made more people aware that Biliary Atresia exists, childhood liver diseases exist and it really couldn’t get much better than that.

Thank You to everyone who voted for us and for your endless support, we truly appreciate you.

The award & Natalie on the evening.
